This class I took with Dr. Urioste and I enjoyed every class we had. We read poetry, short narratives, short stories, and novels. This class was a small class but I liked having a small class because we were able to discuss more in depth our opinions and the readings. We also interacted much more with our peers and got to know each other better. We read about Aztec poetry and I loved it. We found that in every poetry written they had a symbolic message that they were telling us readers about. I was amazed at the delicacy they had chosen their words and how precise their message was. We then touched on the literary movements like the romanticism, the modernism, and the naturism. We were able to see how literature evolved from the 19th century to the 20th century. I was able to learn more about one of my favorite female authors, Elena Garro. Her works are so amazingly written that they can easily send you to travel into her story and you won't even notice as a reader. This class helped me reflect on the different pieces of literature and how they each had a different way of conveying their messages.
