SPAN 303 SPAN 345
Span 303 and SPAN 345 served to help me achieve MLO 2. Both these classes were extremely efficient because I was able to fully grasp linguistics in a completely new level. I was able to understand how the brain works when referring to language and acquisition. i was able to understand why as a native speaker of Spanish I just know some things without having a full explantation of the why i believe things are said in a certain way rather than in another. With SPAN 303 I was specially able to grasp on to the linguistics of grammar and written forms of Spanish. i found an explanation as to why I write and read things a certain way. I was able to better understand the linguistics of Spanish written accents and pronounced accents. I can now determine when a word has a written or a pronounced accent. SPAN 345 helped me fully understand the brain function when referring to language. I was able to understand how a words are pronounced and why non native speakers pronounce such words as they do. i was able to create a portfolio for SPAN 345 and write my opinion on almost every reading we had about the brain and its functions. I can now explain why learning a second language may seem hard to some people but easy for another person. Also we were able to discover why some people that have suffered accidents stay with the second language instead of what would seem logical, which is the first language. I understood why it is important to be bilingual and why it is an advantage to bilingual people. Both these classes were really good for my MLO fulfilment and for my knowledge as a Spanish major.
