course narrative
Being an emphasis of Literature and Culture I took the Spanish course 304 with Dr. Maria Zielina. This by far was one of the best classes I took during my major because it helped me a lot. This course introduced me to literature, poetry, and theatre. We learned how to read each one of these pieces of literature and how to analyze each one. With the literature we read we learned to rewrite what the author was saying in a professional way. We also learned to grasp on the messages that the author was giving us throughout the details that were being described. Poetry is read in a different way than literature and it is analyzed with much more depth. We learned to count the syllabus's that every verse had and count the number of verses and lines in the poem. After this we would analyze the author of the poem, to what movement he belonged at the time, and his style of writing. In every poem there were also hidden messages the author would leave and we were taught to grasp on to them, see and understand them. Those hidden messages were what the author really wanted to say but perhaps it wasn't approved or appropriate for society. Theatre also has a different form of being read, but I learned how to enjoy it. Dr. Zielina was an excellent instructor that helped me understand and learn with ease. By the end of the semester I felt as if I was a professional at analyzing these three pieces of art. This course was fundamental for my understanding of literature.
