course narrative
This history and politics class was exciting and fun to take because it helped me get more information for my capstone. With Dr. Gomez's guidance and help I was able to understand more of the Mexican Revolution and its upbringing. Dr. Gomez helped the class have a fun learning environment by having us work in groups and discuss with out peers about the readings we were assigned and doing class activities. I enjoyed how I was able to see both sides of the story. We understood the United States perspective and the perspective that México had in terms of the land. Dr. Gomez had us write on our journal every class day about the main points we discussed in class. With this we were able to memorize everything we have learned and it also made us remember the information when we were taking exams. We touched on the indigenous periods, the arrival of the Spanish, the westward expansion, and on the Mexican Revolution. I had known some of this information from my pervious classes but I was able to gather new information and learn about the politics. We touched on identity and what it meant to be Mexican. This was something that I had fun with the most because as a Mexican, I did not really know what it meant to be Mexican. All i knew was just that I was Mexican, but with this class I started to value what being Mexican to me means. All in all, this class helped me understand more of the history by helping me see both sides, learn about politics, and help me value my Mexican identity.
